Honour Killing in Mathura, Youth Lynched to Death by Girlfriend’s Family

Mathura: A youth from Agra was lynched to death by his girlfriend’s family in Mathura of Uttar Pradesh.

According to police sources, the deceased Govind Kumar was having a romantic relationship with 20-year-old Rakhi, a resident of Saun village, Mathura. Govind’s body was found in a field near the village.

Preliminary investigation has hinted that Govind was called up to the girl’s home, where her family members allegedly stripped him, bound him to a tree in a field, and beaten him to death.

It was a case of honour killing.

Police have arrested the girl, her father Shiv Singh and her brother Sunil Singh. They were booked under IPC sections 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of an offence committed) and 302 (murder).

The accused confessed to the crime during interrogation and were remanded to jail as their bail plea was rejected.
