India Suspends Canada Visa Services Amid Continuing Row

New Delhi: India on Thursday suspended the issue of visas to Canadian citizens “till further notice”.

A notice by BLS International – an online visa application centre said “Due to operational reasons… Indian visa services have been suspended till further notice”.

It is not yet clear if this suspension of visas is, in fact, linked to that row or is just a technical issue.

This strong decision comes as tension mounts between India and Canada over Canada’s PM’s claim that Ottawa has “credible allegations” linking agents of New Delhi to the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a pro-Khalistan Sikh terrorist.

India has rejected the allegation as “absurd” and “motivated”.

Nijjar was shot dead in Canada’s Vancouver in June. During the G20 Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken up the the issue of Khalistani terrorists with his Canadian counterpart on the sidelines of the Summit in Delhi.
