Maharashtra Man Cheated of Rs 1.9 Crore In Share Trading Fraud

Mumbai: A 35-year-old cloth merchant from Maharashtra’s Thane district was allegedly conned of Rs 1.9 crore by online fraudsters who lured him into share trading.

The victim has lodged a complaint at the Khadakpada police station on Saturday. The police have registered a first information report under relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act and have initiated an investigation.

According to the complainant, the accused contacted him through social media and added him to a WhatsApp group on the pretext of training him to take up share trading. He also received some forwarded links for investments.

By investing in those links, he is said to have lost Rs 1.9 crore between May and July this year. When he tried to contact the persons to get his returns, they could not be contacted.
