Jaipur: A man named Shivlal Meghwal allegedly murdered his 32-year-old daughter Nirma in Rajasthan’s Pali district on Tuesday afternoon by slitting her throat and later burning her down.
A manhunt is on to nab the absconding accused.
According to police sources, for past 12 years, Shivlal Meghwal was living in Pali all alone while his wife and children resided in Gujarat.
Meghwal used to allege that his married elder daughter Nirma was the cause of discord in the family. Shivlal targeted Nirma, when she visited Pali on Monday to attend a wedding.
After meeting Nirma, Meghwal asked Nirma and her younger sister to come to his place on Tuesday. He asked his younger daughter to wait while he took Nirma to a secluded place where he allegedly slit her throat and set her body on fire by sprinkling petrol on it.
His younger daughter saw blood on Meghwal’s hands called the villagers. With the help of police Nirma’s half-burnt body could be located. But by that time Meghwal managed to escape.
A case has been registered against the accused and efforts are on to nab him.
