Mass beating of youth to death on suspicion of mobile theft

In Shyam Nagar of North 24 Parganas, a youth has been beaten to death on suspicion of mobile theft. He has been identified as 24-years-old Subhajit Das. The incident is from Anjangarh area of Shyam Nagar police station area. On Monday evening, when he was passing through the road, woman alleged that her phone has been stolen. It was claimed that Subhajit was running away with her mobile, after which people caught him. He was beaten up with his hands and feet tied.

It is alleged that he was beaten so much that he died on the spot. After getting the information, the police reached the spot, rescued him from the people late in the evening and admitted him to Shyam Nagar State General Hospital where the doctors declared him dead after investigation. A source in the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate has told that two people have been arrested in the incident after raiding late in the night. He said that Subhajit may have committed theft but no one has the right to beat him to death. Therefore, all those who have been involved in this are being identified.

Subhajit’s father Vishwanath Das drives a vehicle. Mother Malti works as a waitress. The mother told that the son used to do all kinds of intoxicants, due to which she herself had handed him over to the police many times but he never committed theft. Those who put him to death should be given severe punishment.
