Odia Killer of 3-Yr-Old Daughter Arrested after 10 Yrs from Maharashtra

Bhubaneswar: A man from Keonjhar district, who had absconded after killing his three-year-old daughter, and hid in seven states during the past 10 years, was arrested by Odisha Crime Branch from Maharashtra.

The Crime Branch sleuths nabbed him by tracking down his PAN card use.

The accused, Prashant Sahani, had allegedly drowned his daughter to death at Fakirpur village under Anandpur police station in August 2013 because of a marital tussle.

He absconded after the murder and frequently changed his place of stay and mobile phone number to dodge the police.

The case was handed over to the Crime Branch for investigation.

After hiding in seven states, Prashant reached Thane in Maharashtra to take up a job in a private company. To open a salary account, he used his PAN card. And this alerted the Crime Branch tracking him for the past decade.

A team of the Odisha Crime Branch reached Thane and arrested Prashant. He was brought back to Odisha on remand and was taken to Fakirpur where the crime scene was recreated, said Crime Branch sources.
