Police ASI Arrested by Vigilance While Taking Rs 15k Bribe in Kandhamal Dist

Bhubaneswar: Officials of Odisha vigilance arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rajanikanta Das posted at Kotgarh police station in Kandhamal district on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 on Tuesday.

According to reports, the erring ASI demanded the bribe to resolve a case involving the complainant and his friends. The Vigilance team caught the ASI red-handed while he was accepting the bribe money at a temple in Kotgarh.

Following the arrest, the Berhampur Vigilance registered a case against ASI Das under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.

Searches were also conducted at two locations linked to the ASI.
