Pregnant Woman Found Hanging in In-Laws’ House, Family Alleges Murder

Balasore: A pregnant woman was found hanging in her in-laws’ house at Mainshamunda village in the Khaira block of Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday morning.

The deceased identified as Sasmita Sahu was eight months pregnant. It was alleged that her husband Deepak Behera used to torture her even after eight years of marriage.

Sources said, on Friday morning Deepak claimed to have discovered Sasmita hanging from the ceiling fan. He then called his father who reportedly brought Sasmita’s body down and informed the police.

But Sasmita’s family alleged that Deepak and his family had killed Sasmita. According to them, Sasmita’s husband is an unemployed drunkard. He used to have frequent quarrels with Sasmita and also used to beat her. They alleged that Sasmita’s in-laws used to physically torture her.

Police have seized the body and launched a probe.
