Robbers Spike Drinks, Loot ₹90,000 From Bus Staff in Odisha’s Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: Employees of a private bus service in Dhenkanal, Odisha, were allegedly looted of Rs 90,000 after unidentified miscreants offered them spiked soft drinks. Deepak Kumar Das, the bus owner, has filed a complaint at the Bhuban police station regarding the incident.

According to reports, the perpetrators hired the bus to transport labourers from Bhuban to Jajpur, paying an advance of Rs 1,500 to the employees. They then provided the driver, conductor, and helper with spiked soft drinks, causing them to lose consciousness, and absconded with the cash.

The bus was discovered parked near the Nilamadhav petrol pump on Bhuban College Road, with the employees in critical condition. They were promptly taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Bhuban for medical attention.

One of the bus staff members stated to the media, “We were approached while refuelling, and they mentioned needing transportation for labourers to Jajpur. After giving us an advance, they offered soft drinks and requested cigarettes. It appears they spiked the drinks while I was purchasing cigarettes.”

Bimbhadhar Tripathy, a businessman from Bhuban, had purportedly entrusted the employees with delivering the money to a mobile dealer in Jajpur.

Deepak Kumar Das expressed shock at the revelation, stating he was unaware that the staff had Rs 90,000 in their possession.
