Khelo India Medalists Now Eligible for Government Jobs

New Delhi: In a move to bolster India’s sporting ecosystem, medal winners from the Khelo India Games across various categories will now be eligible for government jobs under revised criteria.

This announcement by Sports Minister Anurag Thakur aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of fostering a strong sports infrastructure, nurturing talent at the grassroots level, and making sports a viable career path.

The revised rules, formulated in collaboration with the Department of Personnel and Training, extend eligibility to medalists from the Khelo India Youth Games, University Games, Para Games, and Winter Games. Additionally, the games and events included have been clearly defined to ensure inclusivity across a wider range of sports.

“This groundbreaking step is a significant stride in supporting our athletes as we work towards making India a sporting superpower,” said Thakur.

The Khelo India Games were launched in 2018 by the Modi government as a key initiative to revitalize India’s sporting culture at the grassroots level. By creating a pathway to government jobs for talented athletes, this new policy aims to further incentivize participation and excellence in sports across the country.
