Youth Arrested from UP for Making Obscene Gesture Towards Girl in Uttarakhand

Dehradun: A 24-year-old man was arrested for making an obscene gesture towards a teenage girl in Nandanagar tehsil of Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district on Sunday night.

The accused was tracked down from Bijnore in Uttar Pradesh.

The misdeed of the youth sparked tensions in Nandanagar on Sunday. People demonstrated on the roads demanding the arrest of the accused. The angry protestors attempted to vandalise the barber shop run by the accused.

Local police and administration found the issue sensitive as it involved two different communities. Chamoli’s Superintendent of Police and other officials are still stationed in Nandanagar to monitor the situation. According to sources, the situation is under control but security has been enhanced in the area.
