Infrastructure of Utkal University’s Rural Campus In Jajpur Dist to be Ready by Year End: Minister

Bhubaneswar: By the end of 2024, the infrastructure work of Utkal University’s rural campus in Jajpur district will be completed, informed state Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj in the Odisha Assembly on Friday.

While replying to a question of Barchana MLA Amar Nayak, the minister said that strict action will be initiated against the construction firm if the allegation of substandard work is proved.

In 2015, the Naveen Patnaik government had announced to set up the second campus (rural campus) of the Utkal University at Chandikhol in Jajpur district. Its foundation stone was laid on July 31, 2017. This rural campus was to come up on 66 acres at a cost of Rs 101.24 crore.

The state government has already sanctioned Rs 70.50 crore and around 70 percent work of academic and administrative blocks has been completed.

BSC Nursing and three other Post Graduate courses have been introduced in the rural campus since 2018-19 academic year.
