Asha Bhosle’s Grandaughter Zanai to Act in The ‘Pride of Bharat – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’

Mumbai: Zanai Bhosle, the granddaughter of legendary singer Asha Bhosle, will make her acting debut with filmmaker Sandeep Singh’s The Pride of Bharat – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Zanai, who is said to be a descendant of Shivaji, will portray the role of his wife, Rani Sai Bhonsale, in the film.

Announcing the news on social media, 90-year-old Asha Bhosle wrote, “I am truly overjoyed to see my lovely granddaughter @ZanaiBhosle joining the cinema world in the upcoming grand epic #ThePrideofBharat Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.” She also uploaded a video from an event where Sandeep asked Zanai to accept her role in the film.

“I sincerely hope that she claims her destined position in cinematic history and wish her and @thisissandeeps all the very best,” Asha added.

Sandeep wrote on X, “With profound honour we welcome @ZanaiBhosle into the kingdom of ‘The Pride Of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’ as Rani Sai Bhonsale, Shivaji Maharaj’s wife, who contributed immensely to his life as a king and a human being.”

The Pride of Bharat – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is currently under production and is slated to release in theatres in 2026.

The film marks both Sandeep and Zanai’s debut as a filmmaker and an actress.
