Mumbai: Noted filmmaker Shyam Benegal’s “Mujib: The Making of a Nation” will be released in theatres on October 27, announced the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) on Sunday.
NFDC also shared a trailer of this biopic on Bangladesh’s founding father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The one-minute-48-second-long trailer begins with Mujib, played by Arifin Shuvoo, touching the ground of the newly independent Bangladesh for the first time after being released from a prison in Pakistan. The next scene shows his fight for his mother tongue, Bangla, in the erstwhile East Pakistan where Urdu was being imposed after the Partition.
The trailer gives a glimpse into Mujibur’s personal life, showing the character of his daughter Sheikh Hasina, the current prime minister of Bangladesh. It also showcases a heated confrontation between former Pakistan president Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Mujib.
