At Least 64 Killed in Gun Battle Between Rival Tribes in Papua New Guinea

Bodies of at least 64 persons killed in a fierce gun battle between rival tribes were found in Papua New Guinea’s highlands. According to the Papua New Gunea’s police, these persons are suspected of being killed in an ambush in the early hours of Sunday.

A video clip of the massacre showed stripped and bloodied bodies lying by the side of the road and piled up on the back of a truck.

This gunfight is linked to a conflict between the Sikin, Ambulin and Kaekin tribes, who have fought each other in Papua New Guinea for centuries.

The use of automatic weapons in recent times has made their clashes more deadly. It is believed that fighting is ongoing in the remote rural area.
