Closest and Youngest Earth-Sized Planet Found

A planet closer and younger than any other Earth-sized planet ever identified has been discovered by astronomers. This planet named HD 63433d is the third planet that orbits a star called HD 63433. Yet this star is about 73 light years away from our own sun.

HD 63433d is too close to the star and completes its orbit around it in only 4.2 days.

Information about this new planet was published in The Astronomical Journal.

HD 63433 star is roughly the same size and star type as our sun, but it’s not even one-tenth our sun’s age, which is about 400 million years old.

HD 63433 and its planets are part of the constellation Ursa Major.

In 2020, two mini-Neptune-sized planets orbiting HD 63433, were discovered.
