Covid Resurge in China, Over 31K cases Reported in a Day

Daily Covid positive cases reached over 31,000 in China. According to National Health Bureau of China, the country identified 31,454 domestic cases on Wednesday. But 27,517 of these cases were without symptoms.

Wednesday’s number of positive cases exceeded the 29,390 infections recorded in mid-April this year. At that time Shanghai was put under lockdown.

China still follows strict zero-Covid policy. Even small outbreaks of the disease can shut down entire cities and infected patients are put into strict quarantine.

This has affected the productivity in China, which is termed world’s second-largest economy.
