‘Devil Comet’ is Approaching Earth; It is Twice the Size of Mt Everest

A huge comet named ‘devil comet’ is approaching the earth. According to astronomers, this comet is twice the size of Mount Everest. It will be passing by Earth for the first time in around 70 years.

This comet is called the ‘devil comet’ as it has two “horn-like formations made up of gas and ice. This comet is formally known as Comet 12/P Pons-Brooks.

According to astronomers, this comet will not pose any threat to Earth. It will be visible to the naked eye in the spring season of 2024.

The ‘devil comet’ will reach perihelion, the point closest to the Sun, on April 21, 2024. On June 2, 2024, it will pass the closest point to the Earth, said NBC News.

The brightness of the comet will make it visible to people even with the naked eye.

It is a periodic comet with an orbital period of roughly 71 years. This comet will not come near the Earth until 2095. This comet was first observed by a French astronomer, Jean-Louis Pons in 1812.
