Imran Khan’s 5-Star Prison Experience: Honey, Air Cooler, Perfume and More

Islamabad: Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, currently serving a three-year jail term in Attock District Jail in the Toshakhana corruption case, has received upgraded facilities. Punjab IG Prisons Mian Farooq Nazir recently visited Khan to assess the amenities provided.

Khan’s living conditions were reviewed, ensuring his privacy with strategically placed cameras. He has been furnished with a bed, pillow, mattress, chair, air cooler, fan, and a designated prayer room. Other amenities include a Quran with English translation, books, a newspaper, thermos, dates, honey, tissue papers, and perfume.

During Punjab IG Prisons Nazir’s visit, Khan expressed his contentment with the facilities. The enhanced washroom includes a Western toilet, wash basin, soap, air freshener, towel, and tissue paper. To address his medical needs, five doctors operate in shifts, while special food is prepared under medical supervision.

These upgrades were prompted by concerns from Khan’s wife and political party about his well-being and safety. His wife, Bushra Bibi, urged the Supreme Court to intervene, citing his deteriorating health and potential poisoning risks. She demanded his transfer to Adiala prison, Rawalpindi, and requested B-class facilities due to his status.

Khan’s imprisonment resulted from his conviction in the Toshakhana corruption case. He was found guilty of unlawfully selling state gifts acquired during his tenure as Prime Minister from 2018 to 2022. Apart from his jail sentence, he has also been banned from political activities for five years. Khan continues to deny any wrongdoing.
