Jio AirFiber to Launch on Ganesh Chaturthi – Sept 19, Announces Mukesh Ambani

Mumbai: Reliance Jio is set to launch a groundbreaking wireless internet solution called Jio AirFiber, targeting homes and offices in India. The announcement was made during the 2023 AGM by Mukesh Ambani, Reliance Industries’ Chairman and Managing Director. The launch date is scheduled for September 19th, 2023, aligning with Ganesh Chaturthi.

Jio AirFiber initially revealed at last year’s 45th AGM, promises to revolutionize internet access. Using 5G technology, it guarantees high-speed connectivity akin to traditional fibre-optic links, boasting speeds up to 1Gbps. Its plug-and-play setup is hassle-free, requiring only plugging in and turning on to establish a personal Wi-Fi hotspot.

Key features of Jio AirFiber encompass parental controls, Wi-Fi 6 support, and seamless integration with Jio’s set-top box for combined TV and internet services. The service ensures security by enabling users to block specific websites or devices. The streamlined app-based installation and management process enhances user convenience.

Compared to Jio Fiber, Jio AirFiber is a wireless broadband network utilizing point-to-point radio connections. It transcends the limitations of fibre cables, leveraging line-of-sight communication with Jio towers. With speeds potentially reaching 1.5 Gbps, Jio AirFiber outpaces Jio Fiber’s 1 Gbps. Moreover, its plug-and-play nature simplifies the user experience.

Priced approximately 20% lower than competitors, Jio AirFiber is anticipated to cost around Rs 6,000. The service is set to pose stiff competition to other broadband providers like Airtel, BSNL, and ACT. Leveraging Jio’s independent 5G technology built on standalone architecture (SA), it stands out in terms of both speed and reliability, a departure from Airtel’s non-standalone (NSA) approach.

In essence, Jio AirFiber is poised to redefine wireless internet by offering unmatched speed, coverage, and user-friendliness. Its imminent launch signals a new era in high-speed internet connectivity for Indian homes and offices.
