Scientists Discover Colossal Ocean 700 Km Beneath Earth’s Surface!

Scientists have discovered a massive ocean hidden under the Earth’s crust at a depth of 700 kilometers. This subterranean reservoir is three times the volume of all the planet’s surface oceans combined.

This gigantic amount of water exists 700 kilometres below the surface of the Earth in a rock known as ringwoodite.

The findings have been presented in detail in a scientific paper titled ‘Dehydration melting at the top of the lower mantle’ which describes the unique properties of ringwoodite.

According to the scientists involved in this discovery, the ringwoodite is like a sponge, soaking up water. It attracts hydrogen and traps water.

This finding may help explain the vast amount of liquid water on the surface of the earth.

Researchers stumbled at this finding while studying earthquakes.
