Twitter Asks Some Laid Off Employees To Return

New York: After laying off around half the company on Friday following Elon Musk’s $44 billion acquisition, Twitter Inc has now taken a U-turn and is asking dozen of employees who lost their jobs, to come back.

the 50 per cent sacked Twitter workforce, some employees were laid off by mistake and are now being asked to return, Bloomberg quoted two people in the know as saying.

Many lost their jobs and were given a three-month severance pay but now realisation has struck the Twitter management that their work and experience may be necessary to build the new features Musk envisions, the people added.

Just a few days after billionaire Musk’s takeover of Twitter, the company cut close to 3,700 people via email in a move aimed at trimming costs. Many employees learnt they lost their job after their access to company-wide systems, like email and Slack, were suddenly suspended.

Twitter’s new owner Musk had also commented on the layoffs saying that he had no choice when the company is losing over $4 million a day.
