Twitter To Remove “Legacy Blue Checks” Soon

San Fransisco: Elon Musk did not hold back in expressing his disgust for anybody who obtained Twitter verification without paying for it before he seized control of the microblogging platform. According to the billionaire, those who own legacy blue checks are “truly corrupt.”

Legacy blue ticks apparently going to be removed soon, Musk asserted. Therefore, if you got your Twitter verification before Elon Musk assumed control of the service and do not intend to subscribe to Twitter Blue, you will soon lose your prized blue tick.

In a tweet, Musk wrote, “Legacy blue checks will be removed soon. Those are the ones that are truly corrupt.”

It’s interesting to note that Musk had been verified on Twitter years prior to his takeover. He had received the blue tick as a result of his notoriety in the media and in the tech sector. All Twitter-verified accounts were treated the same way. Prior to Musk’s takeover, the privilege of getting verified was restricted to valid public interest accounts and could not be purchased for any sum of money.
