UK Urges Citizens to Leave Lebanon Amid Rising Border Tensions

London/Beirut: The British government has issued an urgent advisory for its nationals in Lebanon to depart the country immediately, citing escalating tensions along the Israeli border.

Foreign Secretary David Lammy issued the warning in parliament on Tuesday, highlighting the frequent artillery exchanges and airstrikes in the region.

“Tensions are high, and the situation could deteriorate rapidly,” Lammy cautioned. He emphasized that while the Foreign Office consular teams are preparing for all scenarios, the government cannot ensure immediate evacuation if the conflict intensifies, potentially forcing people to shelter in place.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer chaired a COBRA meeting earlier on Tuesday to address the issue. Lammy’s urgent message to British nationals in Lebanon was clear: “Leave now.”
