US Family’s Miraculous Escape from Plane Crash By Slowing Down Fall by Parachute

A US couple and their two-year-old daughter had a miraculous escape from a plane crash as they managed to use a parachute to slow their small aircraft’s fall.

The lucky family was flying over a hilly region when the accident took place, reported the New York Post. The local police found the husband and wife, both 38, and their daughter with a few scratches, near the crash site in Whitehorn in California on Friday.

The plane, a 2004 Cirrus SR22, took off from Shelter Cove airport and was heading towards Santa Rosa, when it lost power midair.

As the plane’s altitude was too low for recovery, the pilot decided to use the parachute system in the plane to slow down its fall. The parachute was massive and it slowed down the fall till the plane crashed in a forest.

The family members were out of the plane when emergency crews reached the spot.

The fire department also posted photos of the accident site that show the parachute caught in a tree while the plane was destroyed.
