5-Yr-Old Berhampur Boy’s Miraculous Escape from Death; Falls Off Train in Forest, Spotted by Goods Train Driver Hours Later

Bhubaneswar: A five-year-old boy hailing from Berhampur in Ganjam district had a miraculous escape when he fell off an express train in a forest.

He was luckily spotted by a goods train driver on the railway tracks hours later. This led to his rescue by the railway police. This boy was travelling along with his father and uncle from Durg to Bhubaneswar in the Durg-Puri Express. While the elders were asleep, the boy fell from the train at around 2 am on Wednesday while going to the toilet. He slipped and fell out of the open door of the compartment near Angarpada village nearly four km from the Rairakhol station, railway police sources said.

The child fell across the parallel track and suffered injuries to his head and hands. A few hours later, the pilot of a goods train coming on the same track spotted him and alerted the Rairakhol station authorities.

The Railway Protection Force personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured child. He was admitted to a hospital in critical condition.

The boy’s father, who was searching for the child in all compartments was informed about the rescue of his son from the railway track at the Dhenkanal station.
