Missing Son Returns Home as Sadhu After 22 Yrs

New Delhi: A missing son returned to his home in a village of Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi district but as a monk in ochre clothes. He went missing when he was 11 years old. Recently he reached his home seeking alms from his mother. A viral video circulating on social media shows the emotional reunion between mother and son. In the video, he is seen playing the sarangi, and singing melancholic songs while asking for alms from his mother.

This boy is reported to be Ratipal Singh’s son, Pinku. He escaped from their home in Delhi in 2002 at the age of 11 following a scolding from his father over playing marbles.

Pinku remained away from his family for over two decades.

Last week, he returned to the Amethi’s Kharauli village,  searching for his family. The villagers immediately informed his parents who still reside in Delhi.

When the parents arrived, they recognised Pinku from a scar on his body. But Pinku left after taking alms from his mother. Pinku’s father, Ratipal Singh alleged that the religious sect that his son belongs to is asking for Rs 11 lakh to release him, reported NDTV.

Pinku clarified that he had come to receive alms from his as part of the tradition of his sect marking official transition into the monastic life.
