Parrot Astrologers Arrested After Predicting PMK Candidate’s Election Win

Chennai: Two roadside fortune tellers who predicted the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) candidate’s victory from the Cuddalore constituency Tamil Nadu in the April 19 Lok Sabha election with the help of their parrot were arrested by forest officials on a charge of keeping parakeets caged. But the astrologers were released later.

The PMK candidate for the Cuddalore constituency, film director-politician Thankar Bachan, consulted these two astrologer brothers regarding the election result. He made this consultation during his visit to the Azhagu Muthu Ayyanar temple at Thennampakkam near Cuddalore. The astrologers used one of their four parakeets to pick a card for the fortune telling.

The video of this astrological consultation was posted on social media. In the video, the parakeet selected a card with an image of the presiding deity of Azhagu Muthu Ayyanar temple, and the fortune teller interpreted it as an auspicious sign and said Bachan would win the elections.

When the video went viral on social media, forest officials seized four parakeets kept in two cages from the possession of the astrologer brothers as this violated the Wildlife Protection Act. The fortune-teller brothers were let off with a warning.

PMK leader Dr Anbumani Ramadoss condemned the arrest of the astrologers.
