7 Missing as Tractor-Trolley Swept Away in Gujarat’s Flooded River, 10 Rescued

Ahmedabad: Seven persons went missing as they were swept away along with a tractor-trolley while crossing a flooded causeway on a river in Gujarat’s Morbi district.

A search operation by NDRF and SDRF is underway to trace the missing persons.

Ten out of 17 persons on board the ill-fated tractor-trolley were rescued during the overnight operation near Dhavana village in the Morbi village.

The tractor-trolley with 17 persons was passing through a causeway over a river near Dhavana village of Morbi district at around 9 pm on Sunday night when it was swept away. Ten persons were rescued while seven others went missing.

Several parts of Gujarat were battered by heavy to very heavy rain in the last 24 hours till 6 AM on Monday. Hundreds of people in low-lying areas were shifted to safe places in Navsari and Valsad districts.
