Advocate Found Dead in Police Custody; FIR Lodged Against 6 Officers

Lucknow: An advocate, Rajkumar Lal Srivastava, aged 60, who was involved in a land scam case passed away while in police custody.

As a result, an FIR has been filed against six police personnel, and three officers have been suspended, according to an official statement.

The incident occurred when Advocate Rajkumar Lal Srivastava was brought in for questioning at Kotwali Nagar police station last week. He was a key accused in a land scam case that dates back to 2018.

Following the advocate’s untimely demise, Pawan Kumar Srivastav, the deceased’s brother, lodged a complaint, leading to the registration of a case on Saturday. The FIR names the in-charge of the Civil Lines police outpost, as well as five to six unidentified police personnel, as the accused parties.

Additionally, Pawan Srivastav has made allegations that the police are exerting pressure on him to reach a reconciliation in the case.

The matter is currently under investigation, with the Additional Superintendent of Police, Shivraj, overseeing the proceedings.
