Air India Takes Action Against Pilots for Allowing Passenger in Cockpit

New Delhi: Air India has taken disciplinary action against two pilots who allowed an unauthorized woman into the cockpit of a Delhi-Leh flight. This incident occurred just one month after the airline was fined Rs 30 lakh by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for breaching cockpit norms. The airline received a complaint from the cabin crew regarding the violation, leading to the grounding of both pilots involved.

The DGCA is aware of the situation and has stated that appropriate action will be taken in accordance with procedures. To investigate the matter in detail, Air India has formed a committee. Experts have raised concerns about the violation, emphasizing the potential threat it poses to passengers and crew, particularly on the challenging and sensitive Leh air route.

This is not the first time Air India has faced scrutiny for similar incidents. Previously, the DGCA criticized the airline for its alleged lack of prompt action when a pilot allowed a female friend into the cockpit during a Dubai-Delhi flight. The pilot’s license was suspended, and Air India was fined Rs 30 lakh for its failure to effectively address the cockpit violation.

These actions highlight the importance of adhering to safety and security protocols in the aviation industry. Air India’s response to these violations aims to maintain passenger and crew well-being, as well as ensure compliance with legal requirements.
