Go First Receives DGCA Approval for Flight Resumption with Conditions

New Delhi: Aviation regulator DGCA has given approval to Go First’s plan to resume operations under certain conditions. The plan was accepted on June 28, subject to the outcomes of writ petitions before the Delhi High Court and NCLT.

Go First can initiate flight operations if it fulfills all necessary regulatory prerequisites for holding an Air Operator Certificate and ensures the ongoing “airworthiness” of its aircraft. The airline must conduct a satisfactory handling flight before deploying any aircraft and promptly inform DGCA about any changes that may affect the resumption plan submitted by the resolution professional.

The cash-strapped airline is seeking potential bidders to take over its operations. Expressions of Interest (EoIs) are invited until August 9, and the final list of prospective resolution applicants will be announced on August 19.

Go First reported a revenue of Rs 4,183 crore in the fiscal year ending March 2022, but its liabilities amount to about Rs 11,463 crore.

All flights have been suspended until July 14, but the airline hopes the DGCA-approved resumption plan will lead to its revival and stability in the aviation market.

Prospective bidders and investors now have the opportunity to express their interest in taking over Go First, a crucial step in determining its future course of action.
