Jharsuguda Airport to Improve Connectivity with New Visakhapatnam and Bengaluru Flights

Jharsuguda: Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district is set to expand its flight services with the addition of new routes and the extension of existing ones.

SpiceJet and Indigo airlines will introduce flights to Visakhapatnam and Bengaluru, respectively, during the upcoming winter schedule. While Alliance Air had initially considered discontinuing direct flights to Bhubaneswar and Kolkata due to low passenger numbers, it has decided to extend its services to the State Capital for an additional 10 days. Furthermore, it will continue operating flights to Kolkata for the time being.

Alliance Air’s winter schedule excludes the Bhubaneswar route, but it will maintain flights until November 10 to meet local demand and in response to the district administration’s appeal. Efforts are underway to ensure that flight connectivity to Bhubaneswar remains uninterrupted, given the demand from commuters.

SpiceJet will close its route to Hyderabad and introduce a new route to Visakhapatnam, with specific dates yet to be announced. This addition will expand the airline’s destinations to include Delhi, Kolkata, and Visakhapatnam.

Indigo is scheduled to commence flight operations from November 5, including Kolkata and Bengaluru in its routes from the airport. This expansion promises improved travel options for passengers in the region.
