Alert Locomotive Driver Rescues Drunk Man Sleeping on Railway Tracks in Kerala

Kollam: An alert locomotive driver saved the life of a drunk man who was lying on the railway tracks in Kerala on Sunday evening.

The man, identified as 39-year-old Reji from Achankovil, had reportedly fallen asleep on the tracks. The locomotive pilot, who was operating the Kollam-Punalur MEMU train, spotted the man and was able to stop the train in time.

The man was removed from the tracks with the help of some locals and taken to the Ezhukone Police Station. He was later released to his family.

The Kerala Railway authorities have cautioned all loco pilots to operate trains at slower speeds due to the intense rains expected during the monsoon over the next few days.

This incident is a reminder of the importance of railway safety. Passengers are urged to be aware of their surroundings and to never walk on or near railway tracks.
