Rs 15 Cr Worth Cocaine Ingested by African National Seized at Mumbai Airport

Mumbai: Officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 1.46kg of cocaine, worth around Rs 15 crore from an African national intercepted at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.

The passenger had ingested the cocaine packed in capsules.

He is a citizen of Côte d’Ivoire, a West African country.

The DRI intercepted him upon his arrival at the Mumbai airport on Monday.

The DRI produced him before a Mumbai court to obtain permission for the recovery of the concealed cocaine from his body through a medical procedure.

A total of 77 cocaine capsules were removed from the body of the African at the JJ Hospital.

He was arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
