Rs 5 Cr Heroin Seized from African’s Belly in Mumbai

Mumbai: A total of 43 capsules of heroin worth Rs 5 crore were found to be hidden in the stomach of an African national nabbed by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.

The arrested Benin citizen had swallowed these 43 capsules of heroin. Acting on intelligence reports, the Mumbai zonal unit of the DRI intercepted him at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on June 21.

Medical examination revealed that the accused had ingested 43 capsules containing heroin. The accused was then admitted to the JJ Hospital where doctors made him expel 43 capsules from his body in 10 days from June 21 to June 30.

All capsules contained heroin. He had smuggled 504 gm of heroin worth Rs 5 crore. He has been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
