Bengaluru Mall Under-Fire for Denying Entry to Elderly Farmer in Dhoti

Bengaluru: An elderly farmer was denied entry to GT Mall in Bengaluru last evening due to his traditional attire, sparking widespread outrage. The farmer, who arrived with his son to watch a movie, was stopped by security guards who insisted he change from his dhoti to pants for entry.

The incident, captured on video, went viral and prompted an apology from the security officials. Social media users criticized the mall management for disrespecting the elderly man, and farmer unions staged protests outside the mall this morning.

Farmer leader Kuruburu Shanthakumar demanded police action against the mall authorities, threatening larger protests if no action is taken.

This incident follows a similar controversy earlier this year when a farmer was initially barred from boarding a metro train at Rajajinagar station due to his “untidy” clothes. That video also went viral, resulting in an apology from the authorities.
