Another Manipur Shocker: BSF Head Constable Caught Groping Woman on Camera, Suspended

Imphal: A head constable of the Border Security Force (BSF) has been suspended after a video surfaced on social media showing him sexually assaulting a woman inside a grocery store in strife-torn Manipur. The incident occurred on July 20 near a petrol pump in Imphal. The accused, identified as Head Constable Satish Prasad, was caught on CCTV groping the woman while carrying an INSAS rifle. A case has been registered against him, and the BSF has initiated an internal probe.

In a separate incident, a shocking video of two women being paraded naked in Manipur’s Thoubal district and allegedly gang-raped has triggered widespread outrage. So far, seven people have been arrested in connection with the case, including one juvenile. The Manipur Police are actively pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the remaining culprits.

Amidst these incidents, Manipur Police have reported filing several Zero FIRs over sexual violence cases. However, progress has been hindered as victims and survivors have yet to cooperate with the investigations. The police have also been dealing with the spread of fake news, including a misleading video of a murder in Myanmar falsely attributed to Manipur, aimed at inciting unrest in the region. The Cyber Crime Police Station is actively investigating this matter to hold those responsible accountable for disturbing public tranquillity and inciting violence.

Authorities are determined to bring those involved in sexual violence and spreading fake news to justice, as Manipur continues to grapple with ongoing ethnic conflicts.
