First Phase Voting Of Municipal Elections in UP Concludes

Lucknow: Voting for the urban local body elections in 37 districts of Uttar Pradesh happened smoothly on Thursday, and no untoward incidents were reported.

Ten mayors, as well as other corporators and local body delegates, will be elected in the first round of urban local body elections.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath arrived at a Gorakhpur polling booth to cast his vote just after the voting began.

In a tweet, he said, “Voting is our right as well as our main duty. You must also vote to make your municipal body more empowered.”

Polling for the second phase is scheduled to take place on May 11 and the counting will take place on May 13.

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad voted in Prayagraj, while Defence Minister Rajnath Singh voted in Lucknow.
