Everyone in India was Born as Hindu, Muslims Result of Conversion: Ghulam Nabi Azad

New Delhi: Former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad’s recent statement on the historical context of religions in India has garnered attention on social media. In the video, Azad remarks that everyone in India was initially “born as Hindu,” emphasizing the deep roots of Hinduism in the country.

Azad points out that Islam emerged about 1,500 years ago, while Hinduism has ancient origins. He highlights that while some Muslims arrived from external regions and served in the Mughal army, there were instances of conversions from Hinduism to Islam within India.

Using the example of Kashmir, Azad noted that the population was predominantly Kashmiri Pandits 600 years ago before a significant conversion to Islam took place. This led him to assert that regardless of labels like Hindu, Muslim, Rajput, Brahmin, Dalit, Kashmiri, or Gujjar, everyone shares an initial Hindu heritage and a common bond with the land of India.
