Ghulam Nabi Azad Withdraws from Lok Sabha Polls Days After Nomination

Srinagar: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) supremo Ghulam Nabi Azad has opted out of contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. This decision comes after Azad was initially nominated by DPAP to run for the Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary constituency.

Azad announced his withdrawal from the race during a gathering in Anantnag on Wednesday.

Earlier this month, Azad, a former Congress leader, had been selected by DPAP to contest from the Anantnag-Rajouri seat. The decision was confirmed by Salman Nizami, the party’s Chief Spokesperson.

Azad’s candidacy pitted him against Mehbooba Mufti of the PDP and Mian Altaf Ahmad of the National Conference, who is running under the INDIA bloc.
