Govt Of India Honours Luxor Founder Late D.K. Jain With Commemorative Postage Stamp

New Delhi: The Luxor group, a prominent Indian organisation and leader in the writing instruments industry in the country, celebrated the 80th birth anniversary of its Founder, the late Mr. D.K. Jain.

The occasion was marked with the launch of a special commemorative stamp in honour of Mr. Jain by the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India. Luxor also completes 60 years since inception this year and has established itself as a leading industry player in India and abroad.

The postage stamp pays tribute to Mr. D.K. Jain, an industry legend who is widely regarded as the pioneer of writing instruments in India. An early visionary, his journey had humble beginnings, starting from a small manual assembly shop in Old Delhi, where he began manufacturing his own pens in 1961 with a staff of just four people including himself.

As time passed, Luxor grew in stature and recorded many firsts to its name, including bringing world-renowned brands like Parker, Waterman and Pilot to India for the first time.

Mr. Jain’s vision, dedication, and continuous pursuit of excellence ushered in a new era in the writing instruments industry in the country. Since Mr. Jain’s demise in 2014, Luxor has been led by his wife Mrs. Usha D.K. Jain as Chairperson and Mrs. Pooja Jain Gupta as Managing Director.

Today, Luxor is one of the largest manufacturers of writing instruments in India with a more than 4000-strong workforce and 9 state-of-the-art manufacturing units. It is also one of the largest Indian exporters of writing instruments reaching more than 106 countries, including selling to top retailers across the world. Luxor has truly become a brand beyond borders and is creating impressions worldwide.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Usha Jain, Chairperson of Luxor and wife of Mr. D.K. Jain said, “Today, we celebrate the 80th birth anniversary of my husband and Luxor Founder late Mr. D.K. Jain. On this landmark occasion, it is befitting to honour the man whose vision and values inspire all of us at Luxor to this day. This commemorative stamp will keep his legacy alive and I extend my thanks to the Department of Posts, Government of India for the same. We are also proud to share that Luxor is completing 60 years since inception this year. This milestone is a validation of our continued commitment to building Luxor and contributing to India’s growth story. The commemorative stamp was released by Mr Ashok Kumar Yadav Postmaster General Foreign Post, Delhi Circle, Department of Posts in New Delhi on 16th Feb 2023 at an event attended by close family members and friends, eminent dignitaries, industry leaders, business partners and company members.

Remembering her father, Mrs. Pooja Jain Gupta, presently Managing Director, Luxor, said, “My father has always been my role model and source of inspiration. I have learnt from him that if you dream big, nothing is impossible. His contribution to the Indian industry and Luxor has been immense, and as we script Luxor’s future, we strive to keep building on his vision and living by his values every day.”
