Nagpur: An IndiGo pilot collapsed and died at the Nagpur airport on Thursday, just before he was about to operate a flight to Pune.
The pilot, who has not been identified, was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The cause of death is not yet known.
The airline said in a statement that it was “deeply saddened” by the pilot’s death and offered its condolences to his family and friends.
The incident comes just days after a senior pilot from Qatar Airways passed away in-flight while heading from Doha to Delhi. The flight had to be diverted to Dubai due to the pilot’s sudden illness.
The death of two pilots in such a short period of time has raised concerns about pilot health and safety. The DGCA, India’s aviation regulator, is investigating the two incidents.
