“Pilot Behaved Rudely, Blamed Us For Delay,” Alleges Passenger Who Was on IndiGo Plane

New Delhi: In a shocking incident at Delhi airport on Monday, a passenger was arrested for assaulting the co-pilot of IndiGo flight 6E-2175 to Goa. The attack occurred during an announcement about a delay in take-off, resulting in a video of the incident going viral on social media.

However, a fellow passenger claimed that the co-pilot had aggravated the situation by blaming passengers for the prolonged delay. Despite more than 12 hours of waiting inside the aircraft, the co-pilot allegedly accused passengers of causing further delays for ground staff.

The accused, identified as Sahil Kataria, was captured on video assaulting the co-pilot while he made the announcement. Kataria was immediately de-boarded and handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

Social media reactions were divided, with some calling for action against the passenger, while others highlighted widespread frustration with IndiGo over issues like cancellations and excessive delays.

IndiGo stated that the incident would be reviewed by an independent internal committee, and regulatory guidelines would be followed for including the accused passenger on the ‘no-fly list.’ The flight eventually took off from Delhi at 6 pm after a delay of over 10 hours.

Co-pilot Anup Kumar filed a complaint with Delhi Police, leading to the registration of an FIR. The accused passenger, Sahil Kataria, was subsequently taken to a police station and arrested.
