Dispur: A moderate earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale sent tremors through central Assam on Monday evening, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).

The quake struck at 7:12 pm, with its epicentre pinpointed in the East Karbi Anglong district near the Nagaland border, roughly 170 km east-southeast of Guwahati. The tremor originated at a depth of 23 km, impacting not only East Karbi Anglong but also neighbouring districts like West Karbi Anglong, Hojai, Dima Hasao, Golaghat, and Nagaon. Residents in parts of Nagaland and Manipur also reported feeling the jolt.
Fortunately, no immediate reports of casualties or property damage have surfaced.
