Madhya Pradesh: The incident of a journalist being beaten up by a gang of men in a village near Hoshangabad, Madhya Pradesh has come to light after a video of the purported assault went viral online.

In the viral video, the men can be seen tying him to a tree and punching and slapping him in the face. The assault was allegedly related to a pointless fight from a few weeks earlier.

The journalist Prakash Yadav, who works for a TV and online news organisation, claimed that he was waylaid by a man named Narayan Yadav while returning to his village, Kotgaon on a motorcycle after booking some advertisements in the nearby Managaon. He allegedly manhandled Prakash Yadav in an attempt to avenge a verbal altercation that they had on January 1.

According to the FIR, the journalist stated, “When I objected, his brother Narendra Yadav and another man named Om Prakash joined him, and they assaulted me.”

A case has been reported under the assault and criminal intimidation parts of the law.
