Karnataka Elections: Campaigning Concludes; Voting on 10th May

Bengaluru: Today was the final day of campaigning in Karnataka for the Assembly elections. The 48-hour silent period began at 6 PM and will continue till the end of the polls on the 10th of May. The majority of the leaders ran campaigns in their respective areas to increase their base of supporters. On the final day of the campaign, representatives from several political parties performed a number of roadshows throughout the state.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai held a road show in his district of Shigoan.  Former Karnataka CM B.S. Yediyurappa expressed optimism that the BJP will win 130 to 135 seats during a news conference in Bengaluru. He emphasised that the party’s development strategy will win people over.

Congress chief Malliakarjuna Kharge addressed public gatherings in the Kalaburagi South and Ballary assembly districts. DK Shivakumar, the state president of the Congress party, ran for office in Kanakapura.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi spoke to college-bound girls and working women while riding in a BMTC bus. He informed them of the commitments made by the party, particularly those pertaining to women and girls. A public gathering was addressed by Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi in Bengaluru’s Vijayanagar neighbourhood.

On the final day of the election campaign, JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda visited Malavalli, Holenarasipura, Hassan, and Ramnagar. HD Kumaraswamy organised a number of open forums in his Chennapatna district today. A roadshow featuring Aam Aadmi Party leaders was also organised in Bengaluru.
