Kerala HC Refuses To Stay Sentence Against NCP Leader Mohammed Faizal

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala High Court on Friday refused to stay the sentence against the Nationalist Congress leader (NCP) leader from Lakshadweep, PP Mohammed Faizal.

Court refuses to stay it on a plea challenging a trial court’s order at Lakshadweep in an attempt to murder case.

The case is related to a scuffle during the 2009 Lok Sabha election campaign. Congress leader Mohammed Salleh who was also the son-in-law of Congress veteran P.M.Sayeed was lethally attacked by a group of people.

Faizal, his brothers, and several others were alleged to have taken part in this attack.

Following the lethal attack, seriously injured Salleh was airlifted to a private hospital in Kochi for treatment.

This jail sentence can jeopardize the political career of Faizal as the punishment exceeds two years. He can get respite by challenging this verdict in the Kerala High Court and get a relief.
