Malayalam Actor Lena Reveals She Is Married To Gaganyaan Astronaut

Malayalam actor Lena pleasantly surprised her fans by revealing her marriage to Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, one of the selected astronauts for India’s prestigious Gaganyaan mission. The announcement came through Lena’s Instagram post, accompanied by pictures from their traditional wedding ceremony held on January 17, 2024.

The disclosure coincided with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, naming Captain Prasanth as one of the pilots designated for training for the Gaganyaan mission. This development marked a significant milestone for both the nation and Lena herself.

Lena expressed her joy in sharing the news after the official announcement, having maintained confidentiality per the requirements. She emphasized that their union was through an arranged marriage, reflecting their cultural traditions.

Besides Captain Prasanth, the other astronauts selected for training are Group Captain Ajit Krishnan, Group Captain Angad Pratap, and Wing Commander Subhanshu Shukla. The training for the historic Gaganyaan mission will be conducted at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Lena, known for her acclaimed performances in Malayalam and Tamil cinema, continues to be celebrated for her contributions to the film industry.

Gaganyaan marks India’s inaugural human spaceflight mission, aiming to demonstrate human spaceflight capabilities and pave the way for future space exploration endeavours.
