Man Seeks Death Penalty For Judge, Sentenced To 6 Months in Jail for Contempt of Court

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has sentenced a man named Naresh Sharma to six months in prison for contempt of court. Sharma was found guilty of using derogatory language when referring to a sitting judge who had previously dismissed his petition.

The court, headed by Justice Suresh Kumar Kait, expressed its deep concern over the disrespectful language used by Sharma. The court emphasized that, as a responsible citizen, Sharma was expected to voice his grievances in a more civilized manner, while upholding the dignity of the court and the judicial process.

The contempt case arose from a petition filed by Sharma, a resident of Pathankot in Punjab. In his petition, he sought the immediate criminal prosecution of various entities, including the Union of India, Delhi Police, Mumbai Police, Bengaluru Police, Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, Sir Ratan Tata Trust, and various government ministries and departments, for alleged “extreme crimes.”

After his initial petition was dismissed by a single judge, Sharma filed an appeal before a division bench. In this appeal, he shockingly sought the death penalty for the judge, alleging her decision was defamatory and seditious. He also filed a police complaint seeking her prosecution.

The division bench, while issuing a show cause notice to Sharma, pointed out that his appeal contained unsubstantiated and whimsical allegations of criminal acts against the single judge and compared her to a devil. The court deemed these allegations “distasteful and unacceptable.”

The recent sentencing by the court took into account Sharma’s continued allegations against the single judge and the government officials, as well as his derogatory language towards the judiciary and even the Hon’ble Supreme Court.
